The Cyclones were unable to hold off a rally.

Elizabethton dropped the District 1-AA consolation game as they fell 53-50 to Sullivan South on Tuesday night.

Elizabethton jumped out to an 17-8 first-quarter lead as Teve Mushayamunda scored five points while Bo Pless and Jalen Smith added four points apiece. The Cyclones extended the lead to 12 points midway through the quarter, and maintained a 31-25 advantage at the half.

EHS pushed the lead to nine points to open the second half with buckets from Hayden Townsend and Pless. Sullivan South, however, slowly closed the gap to one point, and then jumped in front with a Garrett Bowery bucket. The teams traded the lead in the final minute of the third quarter as the Rebels’ Evan Morris put SS up for good in the final minute.

Pless led Elizabethton with 14 points. Michael Robinson scored nine points. Eric Wilson and Mushayamunda scored seven points apiece.
