The Carter County representation in the Associated Press Basketball Poll held steady this week.
In the Girls’ Class AA poll, the Elizabethton girls remained atop the poll with 11 of the 12 first-place votes. The Lady Cyclones improved to 23-0 on the season with victories over Unicoi County and Johnson County last week. Elizabethton is slated to finish up the regular season at Sullivan South on Tuesday and at Science Hill on Friday.
The Hampton boys remained ranked seventh in the Boys’ Class A poll after going to 2-0 on the week. The Bulldogs rolled to wins over Cloudland and Unaka to second seed in the District 1-A tournament. Hampton will host North Greene and Johnson County this week and wrap up the regular season on Monday against Unicoi County.
