Elizabethton, Hampton Ranked In TSWA/USA Today Network Preseason Poll

A pair of Carter County teams will start the season ranked in the state.

Elizabethton and Hampton were both slotted at No. 10 in their respective classes in the preseason TSWA/USA Today Network poll.

In Class 4A, the Cyclones received 31 points to come in at No. 10. EHS was 10 points behind No. 9 Macon County.

Alcoa received 16 of 18 first-place votes to come in at No. 1 with 178 points, while Anderson County came in at No. 2 with 155 points and two first-place votes. Greeneville was ranked No. 6.

In Class A, Hampton came in at No. 10 as well with 33 points. The Bulldogs were two points behind No. 9 Memphis Middle College. It is Hampton’s first season back in Class A since the 2008 campaign.

South Pittsburg came in at No. 1 with 175 points and 13 first-place votes. McKenzie came in at No. 2 with five first-place votes an 165 points, while Coalfield came in at No. 3.
