After a delayed start due to weather, the rest of the night was perfect for the Cyclones.
Elizabethton rolled to a 49-0 season opening victory over Daniel Boone in Gray. The Cyclones struck first midway through the first quarter as Caleb Armstrong broke free for a 11-yard touchdown run for the game’s first score. Standout running back Ethan Thomas showed off his speed on the next Elizabethton drive as he rolled into the endzone from 31-yards, and then Armstrong pushed the Cyclones to a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter with a 13-yard touchdown run.
It was Caleb Jones’ turn to score early in the second as he capped off an impressive drive with a six-yard run to give Elizabethton a 28-0 lead. The Cyclones went through the air for their next score as Armstrong his Markus Olds for a 12-yard touchdown. Thomas scored his second touchdown of the game, this one from 44-yards out, to cap off the first half scoring with 1:55 remaining.
Alonzoe Madison found paydirt from 17-yards in the fourth to wrap up scoring.
Thomas finished the game with 100 yards on seven carries, while Armstrong had eight carries for 63 yards.
