Elizabethton splits with Unicoi

The Lady Cyclones remained undefeated in Three Rivers play.

Elizabethton picked up a 56-46 victory over Unicoi County inside Treadway Gymnasium on Tuesday night. The Cyclones were handed their first conference defeat with a 71-59 loss to the Blue Devils.


Morgan Depew had 14 points to lead the Lady Cyclones – who overcame an early deficit. After trailing 13-8 at the end of the first quarter, EHS held a narrow 23-21 advantage at the half.

From there, Elizabethton was able to keep the Lady Blue Devils at bay by slowly pulling away.

Brittany Campbell scored 13 points, while Haley Burleson had 11 points. Bailey Montgomery tallied eight points in the win.

In the boys’ game, Michael Robinson scored 31 points, but Unicoi countered with 38 from Trevor Hensley. The Cyclones traded shots with the Blue Devils in the first quarter, but Unicoi jumped out to a 28-21 lead at the half.

Elizabethton kept fighting in the third quarter. However, Hensley and the Blue Devils added six points to the lead in the frame.

Corey Russell had 12 points for Elizabethton.
