Elizabethton sweeps for Homecoming

Homecoming was sweet for the Elizabethton basketball programs.

The Lady Cyclones cruised to a 77-20 win over Sullivan South, while the Cyclones held on for a 51-48 win over the Rebels.

Bo Pless tallied 12 points for the Cyclones as Elizabethton saw South miss a desperation 3-pointer. Michael Robinson scored 11 points in the game, while Teva Mushayamunda scored nine points. Alex Norwood had eight points.

Elizabethton led by as many as 12 points in the second half before pulling within one in the final minute of the game.

South was paced by Garrett Bowery’s 17 points.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Cyclones jumped out to a 26-4 first quarter lead and never looked back. At the half, Elizabethton held a 44-point advantage.

Kayla Marosites scored 18 points to lead all scorers, while Kelci Marosites scored 16 points. Emily Kiser added 13 points for Elizabethton. Haley Burleson added eight points.
