A new era in the Hampton football program will begin with a familiar schedule.

The Bulldogs are slated to face the same regular season foes as last season’s impressive run to the Class A State Semifinals, but this year will be different with a new head coach at the helm.

Hampton will open the Michael Lunsford era at J.C. Campbell Stadium as they welcome Avery County (N.C.) in Week 1 on August 19.

The next two weeks will see the Bulldogs on the road at Johnson County (August 26) and at Cosby (September 2). The Cosby game will open Region 1-2A play for Hampton.

It will be back-to-back Highlanders in Weeks 5 and Week 6 for Hampton following the bye week on September 9. On September 16, Gatlinburg-Pittman will visit Hampton for an important region clash.

The following week on September 23, Lunsford and the Bulldogs will travel to rival Cloudland to take on the ‘Landers in the Battle of the Lunsfords.

The month of September will close with Happy Valley visiting Bulldog Country on the 30th for a region clash.

October will kickoff with back-to-back region road games as Hampton will travel to Sullivan North (October 7) and South Greene (October 14). The regular season will conclude as North Greene (October 21) and Cumberland Gap (October 28) make the trip to Hampton.

The 2016 TSSAA Playoffs are slated to start on November 4.
