District 1-AA Softball
Elizabethton 4, Johnson County 1
The top-seeded Lady Cyclones jumped out early and limited the Lady Longhorns to advance into the winner’s bracket on Friday.

Elizabethton is set to take on the winner of Happy Valley/Unicoi County on Monday at 5:30 in Elizabethton. The HV/Unicoi game is being played on Saturday in Erwin.

EHS showed no postseason jitters.

With two outs in the bottom of the first, Mollie Johnson hit a single to center field that scored Maddie O’Quinn and Ember Jensen to give EHS a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Cyclones struck again in the home side of the second inning as Mailey Ingram drove Cheyenne Poiroux across home plate, and Jensen drove in Ingram.

From there, Madisun Pritchard and the Lady Cyclone defense took over limiting Johnson County’s opportunities.

Pritchard finished with 14 strikeouts in a complete-game effort, and she allowed just one earned run on three hits.

Johnson finished the game 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBI, while Ingram also added two hits for the Orange and Black. Jensen and Ingram each added a RBI.

District 1-AA Baseball
Elizabethton 10, Sullivan East 0
The Cyclones broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the fourth to open postseason play with a statement win.

Elizabethton advances to Saturday’s Winner Bracket Final at 6p at Joe O’Brien Field.

Runs were hard to come by in the early stages on Friday night.

The Cyclones broke onto the board with a Noah Rosato homer to lead off the fourth and Brilee Hurley scored off an East error to give EHS a 2-0 lead. There was no doubt left in the fifth as Elizabethton plated eight runs to take the win.

Rosato was 3-for-3 at the plate, while Bryson Rollins was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Jaden Anderson, Gage Treadway, Cooper Tipton, and Cade Russell each added a hit.

Treadway picked up the win on the mound as he allowed just two hits with five strikeouts.

Happy Valley 3, Sullivan Central 2
The Warriors weren’t about to go quietly.

Happy Valley won a thrilling matchup to keep their season alive by dispatching Sullivan Central in an elimination game on Friday.

HV’s defense set the tone by limiting Central’s opportunities the entire game – including a pair of great catches from Alex Lunceford.

The Warriors advanced into Saturday’s elimination game against Sullivan East with the first pitch set for 1p at Joe O’Brien Field.

District 1-A Baseball
Hampton 10, Unaka 2
The Bulldogs kept their season going on Friday night.

Hampton dispatched Unaka in the District 1-A opener at David Crockett. With the win, Hampton advances to the double-elimination portion of the tournament and will face North Greene at 1p. on Saturday at David Crockett.

The loss ends Unaka’s season.

Hampton jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second, but the Rangers battled back with two runs in the top of the third. The Bulldogs, however, responded with three runs in the home side of the frame and added two more in the fourth to take full control.

McKinley Kuhn had three RBI for Hampton, while Chance Point added two. Collin Morgan, Conor Jones, and Parker Henry each had two hits, while Josh Whitson picked up the win on the mound.
