Friday Round-up: Lady Cyclones, Lady ‘Landers, Lady Rangers Take Wins

Girls
Elizabethton 70, Volunteer 48
The Lady Cyclones used a stout defensive effort in the second quarter to take control and roll to a district win.

After Volunteer jumped out early and took a 19-13 lead after a quarter play, Elizabethton turned up the pressure and outscored the Lady Falcons 25-1 in the second quarter.

From there, the Lady Cyclones kept Volunteer at bay to preserve the win.

Lina Lyon had 22 points to lead Elizabethton, while Reiley Whitson had 14 points.

Olivia Holly finished with 11 points. Renna Lane tossed in 10 points.

Unaka 65, Chuckey-Doak 49
A big night from Lyndie Ramsey powered the Lady Rangers to a win.

Unaka traded shots with the Black Knights early before pulling out to a 34-23 lead.

The Lady Rangers saw Julia Simerly hit a big shot to open the third and Unaka pushed the lead to 17 points.

From there, the Lady Rangers were able to keep the Lady Black Knights at bay for the win.

Ramsey finished with 33 points for Unaka, while Simerly had 17 points.

Macy Ensor tossed in nine points.

Cloudland 72, University High 16
The Lady ‘Landers hit cruise control for a district win.

Cloudland led 39-8 at the half and never looked back.

Karah Fields finished the night with 18 points. Izabella Christman added 12 points, while Ella Benfield tossed in 11 points.

Lakin Blair had eight points in the win.

Boys
Volunteer 64, Elizabethton 50
The Cyclones came up short against Volunteer.

Elizabethton saw Volunteer jump out to a slim 15-11 lead in the first quarter, but extended the advantage to 13 at the half.

The Cyclones continued to battle in the second half but were unable to rally past the Falcons.

Jake Roberts, Bryson Rollins, and Nicholas Wilson each had 10 points apiece to lead Elizabethton.

Chuckey-Doak 77, Unaka 52
Unaka was unable to bounce back from an early deficit.

The Rangers saw Chuckey-Doak jump out to an 18-8 lead in the first quarter. Unaka continued to battle but was unable to trim the lead before the half.

In the second half, the Rangers were unable to answer a Chuckey-Doak third-quarter run.

Landon Ramsey had 16 points to lead Unaka. Joe-Z Blamo had 13 points.

University High 58, Cloudland 31
The ‘Landers came up short on Friday night against University High.

After the Bucs took a 14-6 advantage into the second quarter, Cloudland stayed within striking distance throughout the second quarter as they trailed by 10 points at the break.

UH outscored Cloudland 22-12 in the third to take control of the game despite a hard-fought effort from the ‘Landers.

Dylan Shell had nine points to pace the ‘Landers, while Caleb Sluder had eight points. Gage McKinney had eight points.
