Friday Roundup: Lady ‘Landers Win Key Road District Game; Hampton Rolls Past West Greene

Cloudland 41, North Greene 27
The Lady ‘Landers took care of business on the road Friday night.

Cloudland doubled up North Greene in the first quarter to take a 14-7 lead and kept the Lady Huskies at bay the rest of the game.

Ryan Turbyfull had 16 points to lead Cloudland, while Izabella Christman had eight points. Makenzie Street and Saharra McKinney scored six and five points, respectively.

Elizabethton 64, Tennessee High 59
The Lady Cyclones picked up a big district win on the road Friday night.

Elizabethton set the tone early with an 18-2 run to open the game.

Tennessee High was able to trim the lead to 10 points at the half and continued to trim into the lead as EHS held a slim 45-41 lead after three complete quarters.

The Lady Cyclones were able to edge ahead and hold off the Lady Vikings to secure the win.

Michelle Shields had 21 points to lead Elizabethton, while Rylee May had 17 points. Rylee Whitson finished with 11 points.

Marlee Mathena and Jamira Smalls had nine and six points, respectively.

Addie Wilhoit scored 28 points to lead the Lady Vikings.

Unaka 57, University High 36
The Lady Rangers cruised to a win on Friday night.

UHS took an 11-4 lead after the first quarter. From there, Unaka took full control and never looked back.

Alisha Harrell and Haley Taylor finished with 17 points. Katlyn Dugger and Keyona Hague scored eight points apiece.

Hampton 66, West Greene 18
It was all Hampton.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 23-4 lead and never looked back. Hampton maintained a 39-6 lead at the half.

Faye Carrico scored 14 points to pace Hampton. Taylor Berry and Macy Henry had 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Boys
North Greene 71, Cloudland 35
The ‘Landers were unable to overcome a quick North Greene start.

The Huskies jumped out to a 20-7 lead after a quarter of play and maintained a 48-17 lead at the break.

Cloudland kept fighting but was unable to cut into the deficit.

Nick Caraway had 11 points to lead Cloudland. Bryce Birchfield, Cooper Smith, and Eli Morgan scored five points apiece.

Tennessee High 73, Elizabethton 41
The Cyclones were unable to keep pace with a second-half surge Friday night.

After Tennessee High held an 18-11 lead after a quarter of play, the Cyclones were unable to trim into the lead. EHS trailed 30-18 at the half.

The Cyclones continued to battle but were unable to mount a run.

Jackson Hobbs had nine points to lead the way, while Mac Paulson added eight points. Jackson Buckles scored six points. Nathan Bailey finished with five points.

Collin Brown led Tennessee High with 26 points.

Hampton 67, West Greene 42
The Bulldogs jumped out early and rolled to a win.

Hampton quickly jumped out to a 20-7 lead after the first quarter, and quickly extended the advantage to 22 points at the break.

The second half was much the same as Hampton cruised to the win.

Michael Anspaugh scored 21 points, while Hayden Campbell scored 19 points in the win.

University High 75, Unaka 44
The Rangers were unable to keep pace with UH on Friday night.

Rylan Crabtree had 14 points to pace the Rangers. Brady Weems scored 18 points to pace the Bucs.
