The Hampton defense set the tone early on Friday night against Avery County. For their performance, the Bulldogs have been named the Applebee’s of Elizabethton Unit of the Week.
Hampton kept the Vikings in check all night, including holding Avery to -22 yards rushing in the first quarter. At the half, Avery had scored 10 points, but the early effort by Hampton gave the Bulldogs a 41-10 lead at the break.
Jason Russell led the Bulldog with 5.5 tackles, while Coby Jones added four tackles.
Hampton returns to action on Friday as they welcome Johnson County to Campbell Stadium.
