Hampton jumps, Elizabethton holds steady in poll

Hampton climbed two spots while Elizabethton held steady in the latest Tennessee AP prep football poll.

The Bulldogs climbed two spots to No. 4, in the Class 2A poll with a total of 111 points. Hampton dispatched Gatlinburg-Pittman on Friday night to remain undefeated.

Marion County was the unanimous No. 1 with 170 points, while Boyd Buchanan and Adamsville rounded out the top three. Adamsville was 19 points ahead of the Bulldogs. Hampton was 21 points ahead of region foe and No. 5 Sullivan North.

In the Class 3A poll, the Cyclones held steady at No. 6. The Cyclones, who dispatched Unicoi County on Friday to move to 3-1, tallied 86 points in the latest poll – just seven points away from No. 5 and region foe Pigeon Forge.

CPA received 14 of 18 first-place votes to come in No. 1, while Alcoa, who received the remaining four first-place votes, and CAK rounded out the top three.

Other local teams in the poll include Dobyns-Bennett (No. 6 in Class 6A), Science Hill (No. 9 in Class 6A), and Greeneville (No. 2 in Class 4A).

Hampton is set to host Cloudland on Friday night, while Elizabethton is slated to travel to take on Tennessee High.
