Hampton ended the regular season with an exclamation point on Thursday night.

The Bulldogs pulled away in the second half to take a 49-11 victory over Cosby in Region 1-2A action. With the win, Hampton secures a home playoff game and a No. 2 seed for the Class 2A playoffs.

On Thursday, the offense powered the way.

Macon Barden opened the scoring with a 30-yard touchdown four minutes into the game to give HHS a 6-0 lead, and Lane Potter broke free for a 53-yard touchdown midway through the quarter. In the final minute of the first quarter, Alex Hardin found Isaiah Greenwell for an 11-yard touchdown to send Hampton into the second quarter with a 20-0 advantage.

Cosby, however, scored the next 11 points as Eduardo Gonzalez scored a 4-yard touchdown and then added a field goal to close the Bulldog lead to nine points with 5:32 left in the first half.

Hampton answered as Harden Birchfield caught a seven-yard Hardin pass to give HHS a 28-11 lead at the half.

The Bulldogs left no doubt in the second half.

Hardin and Birchfield connected for another touchdown in the third quarter – this one from 20 yards out. The fourth quarter saw Jonah Jones catch a 10-yard Hardin pass for a touchdown, while Morgan Myers added a late 10-yard touchdown run to cap off the scoring for Hampton.

The Bulldogs are set to open the TSSAA playoffs on Nov. 2.
