Hampton used a strong second quarter to pull away and never looked back.
The Bulldogs outscored Hancock County 25-8 in the second stanza and rolled to an 88-55 victory over the Indians in the Region 1-A Quarterfinals at Hampton.
With the win, Hampton advances to the Region 1-A semifinals where they will take on North Greene on Tuesday at 7:45p at West Ridge.
The first quarter saw the teams trade shots in the early going.
After Michael Anspaugh hit a 3-pointer to get things started, the Indians reeled off a quick 5-0 run. The Bulldogs saw Geno Carrico and Cadon Buckles hit shots with Anspaugh converting an old-fashioned 3-point play as the Bulldogs pulled out to an 11-5 lead midway through the quarter.
The teams traded shots as Hampton held an 18-15 lead after a quarter of play.
In the second quarter, it was all Hampton.
Hayden Campbell took advantage of an and one, and Buckles scored six straight to kick start an 18-2 Hampton run.
The Bulldogs continued to have the moment, and took a 43-23 halftime advantage.
Any thoughts of a Hancock comeback were quickly erased by the Bulldogs.
Dylan Trivett and Carrico scored four straight points to open the third, and Hampton reeled off a 16-2 run to push the lead to 71-43 after three complete quarters.
Hampton’s Buckles had 20 points, while Anspaugh finished with 18 points. Carrico had 15 points.
Campbell ended the night with 13 points.
In all, 10 Bulldogs reached the scorebook.
Brady Swiny led Hancock with 17 points, while Chandler Gerguson had 15 points.
