With time winding down, Annie Woods played the hero of the night for Happy Valley head coach Larry Abel and the rest of her teammates.

Unaka trailed 40-37 with less than five seconds on the clock but Woods would record a block on a final 3-point attempt, sealing the contest for her squad heading into the District 1-AA tournament next week.

“Annie had two big stops for us there late,” Abel said.

The head coach also credited the defensive effort of Jenna Eaton. Eaton finished with eight points but a game-high seven steals and four assists to her credit.

Kalee Johnson lead the way with a patented double-double of a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds. 11 of her final total came in the second half.

The Lady Rangers battled throughout the entire contest, never trailing by double figures, like the previous meeting, and knotted up the contest at 21-all midway through the third quarter.

Katlyn Weaver led Unaka down low with a team-high 10 points and seven boards. Hannah Tipton was close behind her teammate with nine points, including a 3-pointer and three steals.

Woods and Emily Whitaker finished with six points each for Happy Valley while Sarah Tipton, Cheyenne Drew and Sierra Wright also cashed in six apiece for Unaka.

Tyler Torbett finished with 12 points for Happy Valley to lead the team while Travis Overdorf for Unaka finished with a game-high 16 points, closely followed by 12 points from Kyler Lewis.
