Hampton opened the new JC Campbell Stadium in a big way Friday night.
The Bulldogs raced out to a 30-0 lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 70-8 win over Sunbright in Region 1-A play. It was the first home game for the Bulldogs since Hurricane Helene ravaged the stadium and school.
Hampton made sure it was a celebration on Friday night.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring as Kaden Jones scored on a 19-yard touchdown. Eli Tester added a three-yard touchdown, while Rylan Jones scored from 33 yards out as Hampton took a 22-0 lead.
K. Jones caught an 83-yard pass from Bryce Blevins to cap the first quarter scoring as HHS held a 30-0 lead after a quarter of play.
Hampton continued to have the momentum in the second as Logan Hughes caught a pass. 23-yard touchdown pass and a 12-yard touchdown pass from Blevins. K. Jones added a three-yard touchdown as the Bulldogs held a 54-0 lead at the break.
K. Jones added a 78-yard kickoff return for a score and R. Jones scored on a 75-yard kickoff return to cap the scoring for Hampton in the second half.
Blevins was 11-of-12 passing for 278 yards and three touchdowns, while K. Jones had two catches for 95 yards and a receiving touchdown. Hughes finished with three catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns.
Alden Cordell added three catches for 76 yards.
