It was home sweet homecoming on Thursday night for Hampton.
The Bulldogs cruised past North Greene with a 59-12 victory on Homecoming 2016 at J.C. Campbell Stadium. With the win, HHS moves to 8-1 on the season with one week remaining.
Hampton took control early and never looked back.
Quarterback Jason Russell hit Chris Holtsclaw for a 31-yard touchdown pass to record the game’s first score, and Adam McClain scored on the next HHS possession on a one-yard touchdown.
A 40-yard touchdown run by Hunter Davenport and a five-yard TD run from Dakota Sanchez gave Hampton a 28-0 lead. After the Huskies got on the board when Briggs Kriker found Bryson Story for a touchdown.
The Bulldogs, however, answered with a vengeance.
Davenport’s two-yard touchdown gave Hampton a 34-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter, and Davenport opened the second quarter scoring with a 39-yard touchdown on a pick-six.
After Davenport added a three-yard touchdown run to his tally, McClain pushed the lead to 53-6 with an eight-yard run, which was the halftime score.
North Greene added a score to open the third quarter, but Hampton’s Lane Potter answered with a 49-yard touchdown run down the home sideline.
That proved to be the final scoring as Hampton picked up the win.
Hampton was led by McClain as he rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries, while Davenport accounted for four touchdowns in the game.
Russell was 3-of-6 passing for 63 yards and a score in addition to 49 yards rushing.
Hampton is set to wrap up the regular season next Friday with Cumberland Gap.
