Senior Stone Hutchinson limited Cloudland to just three hits as the Bulldogs took an 18-1 victory over the Highlanders on Monday afternoon in Roan Mountain.

Hampton got on the board first in the opening frame as Ty Robinson and Wyatt Lyons knocked in runs to give HHS the early 3-0 lead. Cloudland was unable to get anything going in the home side of the inning as Hampton retired the CHS batters in order.

In the second inning, the Hampton bats came alive. The Bulldogs got the offense started early in the frame and erupted for 12 runs to push the lead to 15-0 after two complete innings.

After the Bulldogs added a run in the top of the fourth and two more in the fifth, Cloudland finally put runners on the bases with a James Arwood hit and Matt Houston reached base on an error. The ‘Landers were able to drive one run across on three hits in the frame, but were unable to extend the game.

Houston was handed the loss on the mound for the ‘Landers.

Weather permitting, the teams are scheduled for the second game of the series in Hampton on Tuesday afternoon.
