The Lady Cyclones have a new face atop the program.
Barry Johnson has been announced as the new head coach for the storied Elizabethton program.
Johnson comes to EHS from TA Dugger where he served as the boys’ head coach. Prior to that, Johnson had a stellar run at Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC). In all, the coach has 30 years of coaching experience.
The hire comes as a replacement for Len Dugger – who resigned after the season. Dugger led the Lady Cyclones during an incredible run which included Class AA State title in 2014.
Prior to the start of postseason play, Elizabethton learned that the program would be put on probation for the next two seasons along with other minor sanctions for a recruiting infraction. The Lady Cyclones graduate all five starters from this season’s 33-1 squad.
