Elizabethton, Tenn. – Unicoi County had three Lady Blue Devils score in double figures and rallied in the second half to secure a 51-44 victory against Happy Valley (12-7) during Three Rivers Conference action Friday night in Carter County.
Kalee Johnson, who was honored pregame with a game ball for her 1000th point scored Tuesday against Elizabethton, dropped a game-high 18 point effort with nine rebounds.
But the Lady Blue Devils (11-9) were able to counter with their own attack in the second half.
The Lady Warriors held a 28-23 lead at halftime but Unicoi County had the momentum after an 11-2 run to end the second quarter.
Keyed in by Chelsey Harness (17 points, nine rebounds) and 11 points in the second half, the Lady Blue Devils were able to outscore Happy Valley (12-3) in the third quarter with buckets from Harness, Morgan Lee Brown and a pair of 3’s from Haley Webb.
Jenna Eaton (nine points, five assists, four steals) fired off a self-propelled 7-0 to open the fourth to regain the lead for Happy Valley, 38-35, early in the quarter.
Hannah Rice (15 points, six steals) kept the defensive pressure alive in the final frame for Unicoi County and added six points down the stretch to help the visiting team score the win.
Brown added 11 points for the Lady Blue Devils in the win and was joined by a bucket by Halie Padgett. Destinie Hayes added 10 rebounds for Unicoi County.
Lady Warrior Annie Woods drilled a trio of 3-pointers in the first half to finish with nine while sophomore Emily Whitaker provided key minutes and tacked on six points. Kaylee Street rounded out the scoring with a bucket.
The junior varsity Lady Warriors scored a 67-66 night over Unicoi County to open the slate of games on Friday.
