The Bulldogs kept on rolling.

Hampton jumped out early and never looked back as they rolled to a 42-6 victory over South Greene in Region 1-2A action on Friday night.

The win kept the Bulldogs’ record unblemished at 8-0 overall mark and 5-0 in region play. Hampton will have an opportunity to clinch at least a share of the conference title next week.

Hampton wasted no time jumping out in front.

Jerry Lunsford scored the game’s first two touchdowns to power Hampton to a 14-0 lead. Colby Jones got into the scoring act to open the second quarter with a 51-yard run, and then the senior quarterback hit Jared Wiltshire for a 24-yard touchdown pass.

The Bulldogs took a 35-0 lead when Lunsford scored his third touchdown of the night – this one a 25-yard touchdown pass from Jones.

Jones capped off the Hampton scoring with a 41-yard run in the third quarter. The Rebels scored late in the fourth quarter for their lone points of the game.

The senior quarterback Jones led Hampton with 174 yards on eight carries with two scores, while going 7-of-10 through the air with 93 yards and two scores.

Lunsford finished the game with 116 rushing yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.

Hampton returns to action next Friday with a trip to North Greene as they continue Region 1-2A play.
