Hampton outlasted Oneida on Friday night.
The Lady Bulldogs advanced with a 51-44 win over the Lady Indians in the Region 1-2A quarterfinals in Hampton. With the win, Hampton advanced into Monday’s semifinals against Alcoa with a spot in the Region 1-2A Championship game as well as a substate berth on the line.
Hannah Smith hit two 3-pointers in the opening quarter while Ella Eastep added another as HHS took a 10-8 lead into the second quarter. In the second stanza, both teams used a balanced effort to trade shots, and Oneida took a slim 22-21 lead into the half.
The Lady Bulldogs were able to take control in the third as HHS outscored 15-9 in the third to take a 36-31 lead into the fourth.
Hampton continued to hold off Oneida in the final eight minutes to secure the win.
Smith finished with 12 points to pace Hampton, while Brea Hicks added 11 points. Faye Carrico scored 10 points.
Eastep added eight points for the Lady Bulldogs.
Larissa Jones led Oneida with 14 points.
