Hampton left no doubt in the District 1-2A Girls Semifinals on Saturday.
The Lady Bulldogs rolled to a 12-2 lead in the opening quarter and cruised to a 62-45 win over South Greene in the semifinal round of the District 1-2A tournament at Unicoi County.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs advanced to Monday’s Championship game against Chuckey-Doak. Hampton will also host a Region 1-2A quarterfinal game with the win.
Piper Helle and Brea Hicks helped spark the Lady Bulldogs in the opening quarter as the duo combined for nine points as HHS led 12-2 after a quarter of play.
Faye Carrico had a big second quarter as she scored eight points in the frame and Hampton outscored SG 23-12 to take a 35-14 lead into the locker room at half.
The Lady Bulldogs erased any thoughts of a comeback with a balanced effort in the third quarter. Hampton led 50-24 after three complete quarters.
The Lady Bulldogs saw four players finish in double-digits with Carrico leading the way with 14 points. Hannah Smith and Hicks added 12 points apiece, while Helle scored 10 points.
Ally Birchfield finished with eight points, while Ella Eastep scored four points.
Natalie Foshie led South Greene with 10 points.
