The Lady Bulldogs had an upset on their mind in the District 1-A semifinals. However, North Greene wasn’t going to allow that to happen.

Hampton was unable to rally in the second half in a 47-34 loss to the Lady Huskies at Sullivan North on Saturday. HHS will play in Monday’s consolation game against the loser of the Cloudland-Hampton game.

In the first quarter, Hampton controlled the show.

The Lady Bulldogs limited NG opportunities, while Stephanie Campbell and Leanne Guinn had four points apiece to give HHS a 12-8 lead after a quarter of play.

North Greene tightened up in the second quarter. Hampton was unable to keep the offense moving in the stanza as NG reeled off eight straight points. Hannah Collins hit a jumper to snap the North Greene run, but the Lady Huskies ended the hall on a 6-1 run to take a 22-15 lead into the half.

After NG pushed the lead to 14 points over the first six minutes of the third quarter, Brooke Hughes hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give Hampton the momentum as the quarter ended. The Hughes shots cut the NG lead to eight going to the fourth quarter.

Guinn and Campbell had early points in the fourth quarter, but Hampton was unable to trim the lead.

Campbell had nine points to lead Hampton, while Guinn added eight points. Hughes and Collins had six points each.
