For the second time in three years, Elizabethton is heading back to the Region Championship game.
The Lady Cyclones took care of business with a 51-42 victory over Grainger in the Region 1-3A semifinals at Greeneville.
Elizabethton is set to take on Greeneville on Wednesday for the Region 1-3A Championship, and EHS also secured a substate berth.
It was back-and-forth from the opening tip.
Maddie Fowler hit a pair of first-quarter 3-pointers, while Renna Lane added a pair of baskets as EHS took a 14-13 advantage to the second quarter.
Lina Lyon had a big second quarter as she scored seven points in the frame as the Elizabethton maintained a 25-22 advantage at the break.
Points were hard to come by in the third quarter.
Grainger closed the gap to 28-27 early in the quarter, but the Lady Cyclones finished the quarter on a 7-0 run to push the advantage to 35-27 after three complete quarters.
Grainger closed the gap once more in the fourth quarter to five points, but Elizabethton held strong to extend the season.
Lyon finished with a game-high 19 points. Marlee Mathena and Lane had 11 points apiece.
Alia Maloney and Maddie Hurst led Grainger with 18 and 15 points, respectively.
