The Lady Cyclones left no doubt who was the strongest team in Region 1-AA.
Elizabethton pulled away early and never looked back as they rolled to a () victory over Grainger County on Friday night in the Region 1-AA Championship game at Sullivan East.
The win secures the Lady Cyclones a home substate game on Monday night.
After the teams traded points in the early going Elizabethton saw Kayla Marosites score five points and Megan Pietrowski add a bucket to help the Lady Cyclones get some breathing room. A Emily Kiser jumper sent Elizabethton into the second quarter with a 15-8 lead.
Grainger trimmed the lead to five points, but Kelci Marosites and Kiser hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give Elizabethton a double-digit lead. Emily Schubert and Sarah Robinson each added a free throw to give the Lady Cyclones a 20-point advantage, and EHS took a 41-14 lead into the half after outscoring Grainger 36-6 in the period.
Grainger cut the lead to within 20 points in the third quarter, but Elizabethton quickly squashed any thought of a comeback as Schubert hit a jumper and Kiser finished the third quarter with a 3-pointer to extend the lead back to 23 points.
In the quarter, the Lady Cyclones maintained the lead to ice the win.
Kiser led the way with 22 points, while Ka. Marosites finished with 15 points and was named the tournament MVP. Ke. Marosites finished with eight points. Robinson tossed in six points for the Elizabethton cause.
Blake Lamb had a game-high 29 points to pace Grainger.
