It was a record setting night for the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones.
Kayla Marosites surpassed the 2,000-point mark for her career, while the senior class set the all-time wins mark with a 92-26 victory over Unicoi County on Friday night.
The Cyclones were also victories with a 57-48 win over the Blue Devils.
The Lady Cyclones scored early and often against the Lady Blue Devils. With baskets by Melenda Perry and Emily Kiser, Elizabethton quickly raced to a double-digit lead. During the quarter, Marosites surpassed the 2,000-point mark for her career as EHS held a 25-10 lead after a quarter of play.
The Lady Cyclones scored 25 points in the second quarter while limited Unicoi to just five points. From there, Elizabethton held control of the game.
Kiser finished with 30 points, while Marosites added 21 points. Kelci Marosites tallied 12 points along with Perry.
The win was the 115th win for the five seniors on the team – the most for a class at Elizabethton.
Michael Robinson and Bo Pless kicked off the boys’ game with points for the Cyclones, and EHS held a 14-9 lead after a quarter of play. Elizabethton, however, was held to just four points in the second quarter with buckets by Pless and Robinson, but the Cyclones held an 18-17 lead at the half.
Robinson sparked Elizabethton in the second half as EHS started to slowly pull away from the Blue Devils. After leading by six points at the end of the third quarter, the Cyclones quickly turned the advantage to double-digits. Unicoi trimmed the lead to four points, but Robinson drained free throws to secure the win.
Robinson tallied 35 points in the win. Pless added 12 points. Hayden Townsend tallied seven points in the game.
