Lady Cyclones Roll Past Sullivan East

The Lady Cyclones rolled to a district win on Wednesday.

Elizabethton took a 12-2 win over Sullivan East in District 1-3A play in Elizabethton.

After East opened the game with two runs in the top of the first, Elizabethton was able to get one of the runs back in the home side of the frame as Adrian Heading scored on a Kaitlyn Gryder sacrifice fly.

The Lady Cyclones struck again in the third as Sadie Williams scored off a Heading single, and Mikinna Blackwell put the ball in play to score Heading.

EHS kept the inning going as Brook Sparks hit a single to left field that allowed Blackwell to score. Piper Bennett crossed home plate off a Lilly McDuffie double, and Jozey Reece pushed Gracie Estep across the plate to account for the final runs in the six-run inning for Elizabethton.

EHS continued to have the momentum in the fourth as Blackwell, Gryder, and Bennett each touched home plate to give EHS a 10-2 lead after four complete innings.

In the fifth, Williams opened the inning with a leadoff home run to add to the Elizabethton lead. EHS secured the win in the sixth when Lacey Gobble pushed Bennett across the plate to account for the final run.

Gobble and McDuffie each had two hits and two RBI, while Williams and Heading added two hits and an RBI apiece.

Bennett, Gryder, and Sparks each had a hit and an RBI for the Lady Cyclones. Blackwell added two hits, and Jozey Reece added an RBI.

In the pitching circle, Gobble allowed two earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
