Lady Cyclones Roll Past Tennessee High To Advance To District 1-3A Title Game

Once Elizabethton got rolling on Saturday night, there was no looking back.

The Lady Cyclones rolled to a 62-37 victory over Tennessee High in the District 1-3A Semifinals at Unicoi County.

With the win, EHS advances to Monday’s District 1-3A Championship game against David Crockett. The win also secured Elizabethton a home game in the Region 1-3A Quarterfinals.

The teams traded points over the first four minutes of the game. Elizabethton hit the gas to end the quarter by ending the quarter on a 15-1 run to take a 23-9 advantage into the second quarter.

The Lady Cyclones continued to have momentum in the second as they held the Lady Vikings to just seven points in the frame.

Elizabethton led 37-16 at the half.

It was much the same in the second half as the Lady Cyclones were able to cruise to the win by keeping Tennessee High at bay.

Marlee Mathena led Elizabethton with 18 points, while Reiley Whitson had 13 points. Michelle Shields and Jamira Smalls scored 11 points apiece.

Peyton McGee finished with eight points.
