The Lady Cyclones jumped out early and never looked back.

Elizabethton scored seven runs in the first inning to take a 10-1 victory on Unaka on Wednesday evening.

EHS jumped out early as Beth Reece, Lauren Brickey and Jessica Cunningham drove in runs with hits, and Jordan Grindstaff cleared the bases with a grandslam to cap the inning.

Madison Pierce advanced to third base for the Lady Rangers in the home side of the frame, but Unaka was unable to plate the run.

Neither team was able to get anything going until Elizabethton struck again for three runs – including Kennedy Richardson’s RBI double. Sydney Markland got on base for UHS, but the Lady Rangers were unable to keep the inning alive to answer.

Unaka got on the board in the sixth when Pierce crossed home plate.

Reece went 3-for-4 at the plate for EHS, while Cunningham was 2-for-3. In the pitching circle, Cunningham picked up the win with 10 strikeouts and allowing just six hits.

For the Lady Rangers, Haley Fair went 2-for-3 at the plate.
