Elizabethton was unable to answer a second-half run in the District 1-3A Championship game on Monday night.
The Lady Cyclones dropped a hard-fought 61-38 decision to David Crockett in the District 1-3A Championship game in Erwin. Crockett used a 22-5 run to open the third quarter to break open a tight battle.
Elizabethton will host Grainger Friday night to open the Region 1-3A tournament.
The Lady Cyclones jumped out early.
Marlee Mathena hit a pair of shots, while Reiley Whitson added a 3-pointer to help Elizabethton open the game on a 9-0 run.
The Lady Pioneers, however, scored the final four points of the first quarter to trim the EHS lead to 9-4 after a quarter of play.
In the second quarter, Crockett was able to go on a 15-4 run that helped push them ahead of the Lady Cyclones as DC led 24-20 at the break.
Elizabethton continued to battle in the second half but was unable to answer the third-quarter run by the Lady Pioneers.
Mathena led Elizabethton with 11 points, while Michelle Shields had seven points. Peyton McGee added six points.
Brylee Tullock finished with 20 points to lead Crockett, while Kayleigh Donner added 15 points.
