Cloudland overcame a slow start to advance in the Region 1-A tournament.
The Lady ‘Landers rolled to a 56-41 win over Washburn on the road in the Region 1-A Quarterfinals on Friday night. With the win, Cloudland advanced to Monday’s semifinal against Unaka.
After the Lady Pirates took a 12-11 lead into the second quarter, the Lady ‘Landers outscored Washburn 16-10 in the second to take a 27-22 lead into the second half.
Cloudland took control in the third quarter as five different Lady ‘Landers reached the scorebook, and CHS outscored Washburn 16-7 in the frame. CHS took care of business at the free-throw line in the fourth to secure the win.
Abriella Jones led Cloudland with 10 points. Eowyn McCoury scored nine points. Savannah McCoury and Regan Blair added eight points apiece, while Makinna Shell scored seven points.
Washburn was paced by Ebony Hill’s 16 points.
