The Lady ‘Landers were unable to deliver the knockout punch on Wednesday night.
Cloudland came up short in their quest for a Region 1-A title as they fell 45-41 to North Greene at Daniel Boone in the Region 1-A Championship game.
CHS will now travel to Oneida on Saturday night for a substate matchup.
For the fourth time this season, it was an epic battle between the Lady ‘Landers and Lady Huskies.
Mandy Benfield scored a pair of early buckets and Kenzie Birchfield knocked down a 3-pointer to give CHS a 9-4 lead midway through the quarter. After a quick North Greene run, Gracie Freeman and Jasmine Birchfield hit a pair of shots to give CHS a 13-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Lady Huskies scored the first nine points of the second quarter, but Kaylen Fields used back-to-back shots to stop the run. J. Birchfield scored five points for CHS in the second half of the quarter as the Lady ‘Landers trailed by one at the half.
The back-and-forth battle continued in the second half.
Benfield countered a pair of NG shots, and Heaven Caraway had a scoop and score to tie the game with just under three minutes to play in the quarter. The teams traded shots as NG took a 34-32 advantage into the final quarter.
In the final quarter, Cloudland took a 36-34 lead with back-to-back buckets from Benfield, but North Greene was able to go on an 8-2 run to regain the lead. Cloudland continued to battle as K. Birchfield pulled the Lady ‘Landers back within one point, but NG secured the win at the free-throw line.
Benfield had 16 points to pace Cloudland. J. Birchfield scored 11 points, while K. Birchfield had six points.
North Greene was led by Haleigh Bernard and Brooklyn Anderson as both scored 13 points.
