Lady ‘Landers see season end in heartbreaking fashion at Cosby

The Cloudland softball team was unable to keep their magical season going.

The Lady ‘Landers dropped a heartbreaking 2-1 decision to Cosby in the Region 1-A semifinals. With the loss, CHS sees a season that saw the team set a program record for wins as well as their first trip to the Region 1-A tournament come to a close.

The Lady ‘Landers jumped out early.

Karah Fields took advantage of a pair of Cosby error to cross the plate to give Cloudland a 1-0 lead. The Lady ‘Landers saw Jasmine Birchfield move around the bases to get to third, but Cloudland was unable to bring the run home as CHS maintained a 1-0 lead.

The Lady ‘Landers held the advantage until the fifth inning when the Lady Eagles took a 2-1 lead. Cloudland looked to rally in the final inning as Heaven Caraway represented the tying run on base with a single, but the Lady ‘Landers were unable to even the score.

Kenzie Birchfield, Fields and Caraway each had a hit for Cloudland.
