Unaka was unable to extend their season on Thursday morning.
The Lady Rangers saw an incredible season come to a close with a 3-0 loss to Whitwell in an elimination game at the Class A State Tournament in Murfreesboro.
After a quiet first inning, the Lady Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the second with a tagged up run, and then added two more runs in the bottom of the third.
Unaka, however, didn’t go down without a fight.
Katlyn Weaver hit a single in the top of the fourth for the Lady Rangers first hit of the night, and the UHS defense kept Whitwell off the board. However, the Lady Rangers were unable to close the gap.
Weaver recorded two hits for the Unaka cause.
In the circle, Corie Schuettler was handed the loss despite allowed just two hits. The three Whitwell runs were unearned.
The loss marks the end of seniors Madison Ensor, Sydney Markland, Sarah Tipton, Weaver and Schuettler’s stellar high school careers.
