The Lady Rangers picked up a crucial conference win on Tuesday night, while the Rangers let one slip through their fingers.

Unaka girls picked up a 35-30 victory over North Greene on Stoney Creek in a District 1-A clash, while North Greene slipped by the Unaka boys 50-48 on a last second shot.

The difference in the girls’ game proved to be Hannah Tipton and the second quarter. Unaka held the Lady Huskies, who defeated Unaka earlier in the season in overtime, scoreless in the second quarter, and held on for the win. Tipton scored 14 points in the game.

In a back-and-forth game, Colton Chambers tied the game with 12.4 seconds remaining, but North Greene’s Avery Weems answered with two seconds on the clock to propel the Huskies to the win.

Joe Searfoss led Unaka with 20 points, while Chambers had 14 points.
