Unaka took care of business and advanced in the Region 1-A Tournament.

The Lady Rangers outlasted the top-seed from Region 2 Washburn for a 53-36 victory on Friday night in the quarterfinals.

Unaka advances to the Region 1-A semifinals on Monday at 7:30p., where they will take on North Greene.

The Lady Rangers jumped out early.

The Lady Pirates, however, battled back in the second limited UHS to just one shot from the floor. That allowed Washburn to close the Unaka lead to 20-19 at the half.

Unaka built up a little breathing room in the third quarter as Jill Faust, Keyona Hague, Dugger, and Ramsey reached the scorebook to push the UHS lead to 31-27 after three.

The final stanza saw Unaka take care of business as they kept the Lady Pirates at bay to secure the win.

Ramsey had 29 points to lead Unaka. Taylor scored eight points, while Dugger finished with five points.
