Lady Rangers See Season End In Region 1-A Semifinals

Unaka was unable to extend the season on Monday.

The Lady Rangers came up short in the Region 1-A Semifinals as they fell 8-0 to Cosby on the road.

Unaka battled from the opening pitch.

Kyle Blevins recorded a single in the first inning, but UHS was unable to move the runner. Cosby was able to get back-to-back singles to open the home side of the first, but Unaka held strong to keep the Lady Eagles off the board as the first inning ended scoreless.

The next couple of innings were a defensive battle as neither team was able to get anything going,

Cosby plated the first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth to take a 1-0 lead. The Lady Eagles added three more in the fifth to extend the advantage.

Unaka was unable to mount a rally in the sixth or seventh.

Blevins finished the game with one hit.

In the pitching circle, Trinity Bowers struck out 11 batters in six innings of work and allowed just three earned runs on nine hits.
