Lady Warriors Win Thriller; Warriors Come Up Short

Happy Valley split a pair of varsity contests on Thursday night.

The Lady Warriors took a thrilling 46-44 victory over Cosby, while the Eagles used a strong second half to take a 68-42 over the Happy Valley boys.

In the girls’ game, it was a back-and-forth tussle.

HV had a balanced attack in the first quarter as four players found their way into the scorebook, but Cosby held a slim 12-11 lead after a quarter of play.

Kadie Bailey sparked an HV run with eight second-quarter points, while the Lady Warriors limited Cosby to just six points in the frame.

Happy Valley led 28-18 at the half.

Cosby battled back in the third quarter and the teams traded shots down the stretch as HV was able to secure the win in the closing seconds.

Bailey led HV with 15 points, while Marcida Moore had 10 points. Cayden Anderson scored nine points.

Josephine Zeoli and Mailey Guy had seven and five points, respectively.

In the boys’ game, Ron Parker gave HV an early spark with eight first-quarter points, but Cosby was able to take a 21-12 lead after eight minutes of play.

The Warriors were unable to get much going offensively in the second stanza as they were limited to just four points in the frame.

Happy Valley kept fighting in the second half but was unable to rally back.

Ben Miller scored 14 points to lead HV, while Parker had eight points. Dakota Grindstaff had six points.
