‘Landers, Cyclones end regular season ranked in AP poll

Elizabethton and Cloudland finished the regular season ranked in the final AP Tennessee Prep Football poll.

In Class 4A, the Cyclones finished in the No. 4 spot with a 9-1 record. Elizabethton, who dispatched Sullivan Central handily on Thursday, tallied 100 points – just 18 points behind No. 3 Dyersburg.


Greeneville was the unanimous No. 1, while Anderson County continued to be ranked at the No. 2 slot.

In Class A, Cloudland climbed a spot to No. 7 with an 8-2 mark. The ‘Landers, who rolled past Copper Basin, tallied 58 points to finish 20 points behind No. 6 Lake County.

Greenback tallied 11 of 15 first-place votes to take the No. 1 position, while Cornersville and Huntingdon were No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

Other local teams ranked include Johnson County (No. 5 in class 3A), Unicoi County (No. 10 in Class 3A), David Crockett (No. 3 in Class 5A) and Daniel Boone (No. 7 in Class 5A).

Both Cloudland and Elizabethton will host first round matchups as CHS will welcome Midway to Orr Field while Elizabethton will take on Howard at Citizens Bank Stadium.

Kickoff for both games is set for 7 p.m.
