It was a needed performance for Hampton’s Adam McClain on Friday night.
McClain powered the Bulldogs to a 38-28 victory over Austin East in the second round of the TSSAA Class 2A playoffs to capture the Climate Controllers’ Player of the Week award.
The running back tallied 163 yards on 21 carries. In addition, he recovered an onside kick and fumble recovery that both lead to touchdowns for Hampton.
McClain and company look to avenge last season’s playoff loss to Grace Christian on Friday night. The Bulldogs and Rams will square off with a spot in the state semifinals on the line.
Kickoff at J.C. Campbell Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
