Milligan Track & field honored for success in classroom

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) honored both the Milligan College men’s and women’s track and field teams along with 12 individuals for achieving academic success during the 2018-19 season.

Stephanie Coffey, Amy Ferguson, Katlyn Haas, Liz Maller, Gabrielle Mardis, Bekah Owen and Erica Stone earned the recognition on the women’s side. Cory Aulich, Eli Baldy, Andrew Burton, Tons Ferguson and Tim Thacker earned the award on the men’s side.

In order to be in contention for the team academic honor, a program must finish highly at the respective national championship meet and have at least a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.00. Milligan’s women posted a 3.45 while the men posted a 3.25.

Individually, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30, completed at least two semesters or three quarters at the certifying institution and achieved an “A” or “B” standard in a championship event.
