A gritty Ranger effort proved to be worth a championship.
Unaka captured the District 1-A crown after overcoming a fifth-inning deficit to the Bucs. After Unaka took a 2-0 lead in the first, UH answered in the fifth with four runs. However, the Rangers answered in the home side of the frame to take the victory.
Abraham Hill picked up the win on the mound for the Rangers. Austin Wilson went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Unicoi County 13, Happy Valley 1
The Warriors were unable to keep pace with the Blue Devils’ bats on Monday. Unicoi tallied 17 hits in the game, while the Warriors were only able to get two in five innings.
Sage Haun recorded a 1-for-2 performance with an RBI. Bailey Conley added a hit for the Warriors.
Elizabethton 5, Johnson County 4
It was looking dire for the Cyclones. However, Michael Robinson had an answer.
Robinson hit a game winning single that drove in two runs to power EHS to the Three Rivers victory.
Happy Valley 8, Sullivan North 1
The Lady Warriors saw Emily Whitaker record a solid day at the plate to power HV to a solid victory. Whitaker went 2-for-4, including a two-run homerun, while Kenzie Davis picked up the win in the pitching circle.
