Hampton 7, North Greene 1
The Bulldogs picked up a big road win on Monday.
Hampton plated single runs in the first and second innings, and then took full control with three runs in the fifth. Two runs in the top of the sixth gave Hampton a 7-0 run going to the final inning.
Collin Morgan went 3-for-4 to lead Hampton at the plate, while Brody Hicks added a pair of hicks and two RBI.
Josh Whitson picked up the win as he narrowly missed a complete-game effort by one out. Whitson struck out eight batters and allowed just one unearned run on five hits.
Morgan struck out the lone batter he faced on the mound.
Unicoi County 3, Elizabethton 2
The Cyclones dropped a heartbreaker as Unicoi plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a walkoff win.
Gage Treadway went 2-for-3 for Elizabethton with a RBI, while Zak Workman, Peyton Johnson, and Kaleb Hambrick each added a hit.
Treadway got the starting nod as he struck out 12 batters with one unearned run on three hits.
Johnson County 20, Happy Valley 8
Happy Valley 6, Johnson County 5
In a doubleheader, Happy Valley split a pair of games on Monday night.
The first game saw the Longhorns jump out to a 7-0 lead in the second, but HV answered with five funs in the bottom of the third to trim the gap to 9-5.
After HV added a run in the fourth, Johnson County outscored the Warriors 11-2 over the final two innings to secure the win.
Hunter Smith was 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Andrew Little, Pedro Colunga, and Dakota Grindstaff each had a hit.
The second game saw HV jump out to a 6-0 lead through four innings and then held on for the thrilling win.
Tucker Shoun, Cameron Johnson, Little, Smith, and Colunga each had a hit.
Shoun picked up the win as he allowed just four earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts.
Softball
Hampton 18, Avery County (N.C.) 14
The Lady Bulldogs captured a nonconference win on Monday.
Hampton outlasted the Lady Vikings in an offensive showdown.
Madison Setlock had a home run and finished with three hits and three runs scored, while Macy Henry added three hits as well.
Abigail Willis added a homerun to the Lady Bulldog cause, while Rachel Fair and Abbie Lunsford scored three and two times, respectively.
Elizabethton 11, Happy Valley 0
Madisun Pritchard threw a no-hitter to power Elizabethton to an 11-0 victory.
After a scoreless first inning, EHS broke onto the board with a single run in the second and added three more in the third. The Lady Cyclones secured the win with seven runs in the fourth.
Pritchard struck out seven HV batters in five innings of work.
Maddie O’Quinn went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Kenidy Harris, Cheyenne Poiroux, and Maely Ingram added two hits apiece.
Laura Rice allowed just four earned runs on six hits in the circle for Happy Valley.
Unaka 7, South Greene 5
The Lady Rangers picked up a win on Monday.
After South Greene scored two runs in the opening frame, Unaka answered with three runs of their own in the home side of the first, and two more in the second. From there, UHS captured the win.
Alana Parsons was 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Kendall Bare, Kylie Blevins, Jll Faust, and Hailey Gilman had two hits apiece.
Sadie Shoun picked up the win in the circle as she allowed two earned runs on nine hits with five strikeouts.
