Hampton 68, Sullivan East 65 OT (boys)
The Bulldogs had to work overtime for the win.
Hampton – who led by 16 at the half – saw Jordan Bentley erupt for five points in the extra period to lead the way to the win.
Rocky Croy had 16 points to pace the Bulldog offense, while Matt Hughes added 14 points. Bentley had 12 points.
Izaak Hill and Caleb Oaks had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Unaka 61, Providence (boys)
The Rangers used a strong third quarter to pull away for the win at their opening game of the Sullivan East Thanksgiving Classic.
After the teams played to a 14-14 draw at the end of the first quarter, the Knights took a 34-24 lead into the half. The Rangers, however, held Providence to just four points in the third quarter and roared back to take a lead into the final quarter.
Ryan Johnson led the Rangers with 23 points – including five 3-pointers, while Will Sexton had 13 points.
Dylan Whitehead finished with 10 points.
Happy Valley 74, University High 15 (girls)
The Lady Warriors jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they cruised to a first-round win at the Hardees Classic at David Crockett.
HV jumped out to a 25-3 lead in the first quarter and rolled to a 45-8 halftime lead.
Kadie Bailey had 17 points, while Shalyn Whitson tallied 12 points. Olivia Absher and Casey Campbell had eight points apiece.
Sullivan East 66, Hampton 28 (girls)
The Lady Bulldogs were unable to bounce back from an early offensive attack against the Lady Patriots.
Hampton fought hard, but trailed 34-16 at the half.
The Lady Bulldogs were led by Sara Orr and Madison McClain who each had eight points.
