Monday Round-up: Lady Rangers Take Two From HV, Cyclones Win Sixth Straight

Unaka 13, Happy Valley 4
Unaka 6, Happy Valley 4
The Rangers took a pair of games from Happy Valley on Monday.

In the first game, Mollie Buckles had four RBI and two hits to pace Unaka, while Katlyn Dugger had three RBI and two hits. Brooklyn Campbell and Kacie Bare each added two RBI.

Bare struck out four batters and allowed two earned runs on five hits in the pitching circle.

For HV, Trinity Bowers went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Ashton Bates, Keira Reece, and Miley Miller each added a hit.

In the second game, Kimberly Profitt set the tone for Unaka as she struck out 10 batters and allowed just two earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, Keidance Story and Bare had two hits a piece, while Dugger and Campbell each added a hit.

The Lady Warriors saw Miller have two RBI and a hit, while Natalie Cline added a hit and an RBI. Maliyah Green and Nicole Williams finished with a hit apiece for the Lady Warriors.

Elizabethton 10, Stow-Munrow (OH) 7
The Lady Cyclones picked up a win on the first day of the Spring Break trip to Pigeon Forge.

Down 6-2 heading into the fourth, EHS plated three runs in the fourth and four more in the seventh to take control and the win.

Kaitlyn Gryder had three hits and a RBI and Mikinna Blackwell added two hits and two RBI to pace EHS. Sadie Williams added two hits and an RBI, while Adrian Heading and Ezzy Barr had a hit and an RBI.
Lilly McDuffie added two hits.

In the pitching circle, Barr struck out seven and allowed no earned runs on five hits in four innings of work.

Baseball
Elizabethton 10, Crockett 9
The Cyclones won a back-and-forth battle on Monday for a key district win.

The teams swapped the lead throughout the game with EHS plating three runs in the sixth to take the lead for good.

Steven Meadows went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Aliester Sumner had three RBI and two hits – while also drawing a walk that plated the winning run.

JD Hooks had two hits and an RBI. Rhett Slagle and Bryson Rowland each had a hit and an RBI.

On the mound, Rowland allowed just two earned runs on five hits in five innings of work.

South Greene 5, Happy Valley 3
The Warriors were unable to answer two late runs by South Greene on the road Monday.

The game entered the sixth tied at 3-3 before the Rebels broke the tie with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Drew Blevins went 2-for-4 for HV, while Mason Belt added a hit and an RBI.

Dorrian Young, Jamie Esterline, and Aiden Hartsook each added a hit.

In four innings of work, Ty Johnson struck out four batters and allowed just two earned runs on two hits.

North Greene 16, Cloudland 2
The ‘Landers came up short in a district contest on Monday afternoon.

CHS took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Huskies answered with five runs in the bottom of the frame. After a scoreless second,

Cloudland plated a run to cut into the NG lead. The Huskies, however, countered with a run in the third and a big fourth inning to secure the win.

Walker Gouge had one hit and scored two runs for Cloudland. Tristen Lowery and Camden Peppers each had a hit.

On the mound, Peppers struck out two batters and allowed just three earned runs on three hits.

Wyatt Burns had four RBI to lead North Greene.
