Unaka 78, Johnson County 67
The Rangers outlasted Johnson County for a nonconference win on Monday night.

After the Longhorns held a 15-14 lead after the first, Unaka jumped out to a 34-26 lead at the break.

The Rangers were able to keep Johnson County at bay in the second half to take the win.

Mason Wilson had 21 points to lead Unaka, while Logan Lewis had 13 points. John Harden had 10 points with Marcus Shomaker adding nine points.

Darren Chappell had 28 points for Johnson County.

University High 84, Cloudland 38
Cloudland was unable to keep pace against the state’s eighth-ranked squad.

UH jumped out to a 19-8 lead in the first quarter. The ‘Landers kept battling but were unable to cut into the deficit.

Cooper Smith led Cloudland with 15 points. Nick Caraway had 11 points.

Peter Boynewicz had 20 points to lead UH.

Cloudland 52, University High 16
The Lady ‘Landers pitched a shutout in the first quarter and never looked back.

Cloudland took a 12-0 lead after a quarter of play and stormed to a 24-4 halftime lead.

Izabella Christman had 18 points to pace CHS, while Makinna Shell scored 13 points. Makenzie Street scored 10 points.

Johnson County 55, Unaka 31
Lauren Lund had 10 points and Haley Taylor scored nine points, but the Lady Rangers were unable to keep pace with the Lady Longhorns.

Mackenzie Kelly scored 21 points to lead Johnson County. Aubree Glenn and Mackenzie McClain had 10 and nine points, respectively.
