Monday Round-up: Road Wins Highlight Monday

Hampton 75, West Greene 50 (boys)
The Bulldogs used a big third quarter to leave no doubt on Monday night.

After taking a 42-25 halftime lead, Hampton outscored West Greene 31-11 in the third quarter to take full control of the game and cruise to the win.

Cadon Buckles had 14 points to lead the Bulldogs, while Hayden Campbell had 12 points. Chance Point finished with 10 points.

In all, ten players scored for Hampton.

Johnson County 89, Unaka 65 (boys)
The Rangers were unable to keep pace with a hot-shooting Longhorn squad that hit 15 3-pointers in the game.

Landon Ramsey led Unaka with 32 points. Mason Wilson had 14 points.

Austin West had 27 points to lead Johnson County.

Mitchell County (N.C.) 53, Cloudland 47 (boys)
The ‘Landers were unable to come out ahead in a tight road battle on Monday night.

It was a back-and-forth battle as the teams traded shots nearly the entire game. The Mountaineers led 16-14 after a quarter of play and maintained a 27-25 advantage at the half.

Cloudland continued to battle as the game stayed tight throughout the second half before Mitchell was able to secure the win in the closing moments.

Hampton 76, West Greene 39 (girls)
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out quickly and never looked back on Monday night.

Hampton rolled to a 19-7 lead in the first quarter and held a 36-20 advantage at the half. From there, it continued to be all Hampton.

Macy Henry had 29 points to lead Hampton, while Piper Helle and Madi McClain had 14 and 10 points, respectively. Linsey Jenkins had eight points.

Cloudland 50, Mitchell County (N.C.) 28 (girls)
The Lady ‘Landers pulled away in the second quarter and rolled to a win over their North Carolina foe.

After holding a 13-8 lead after a quarter of play, CHS outscored the Lady Mountaineers 13-6 in the second quarter to take a double-digit lead into the half.

Ella Benfield and Izabella Christman had 15 points apiece to pace Cloudland, while Kendall Birchfield and Makenzie Street had six points apiece.

Unaka 69, Johnson County 58 (girls)
The Lady Rangers held off the Lady Longhorns for a Monday night victory.

Unaka jumped out early and then fended off Johnson County to take the win.

Lyndie Ramsey had 32 points in the win, while Jull Faust tallied 14 points. Keyona Hague added 13 points for the Lady Rangers.

Brookanna Hutchins led Johnson County with 16 points.
