Monday Round-up: Unaka Takes Two From Twin Springs; Lady ‘Landers Roll

Unaka 74, Twin Springs (Va) 48
The Rangers rolled to a Monday night victory over an out of state foe.

Unaka jumped out to a 25-8 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as UHS held a 36-23 lead at the break.

Cooper Smith and Aiden Walsh had 15 points apiece to lead Unaka. Zach Wallin added 14 points, while John Hardin added 11 points.

Unaka 46, Twin Springs 40 (girls)
The Lady Rangers won a back-and-forth battle on the road Monday night.

After the teams played to a 13-13 draw in the first quarter, Unaka took a 21-16 lead into the half. The teams continued to go back-and-forth in the second half as the Lady Rangers were able to hold on for the win.

Cloudland 63, Chuckey-Doak 26 (Girls)
The Lady ‘Landers cruised to a nonconference win.

CHS jumped out to a 22-9 lead after a quarter of play and held a 39-12 lead at the break.

Makinna Shell had 13 points to lead Cloudland. Eowyn McCoury had 10 points, while Regan Blair and Emily Forbes added eight points each.

Chuckey-Doak 69, Cloudland 34 (boys)
The ‘Landers were unable to hold off a second-half charge by the Black Knights.

Cloudland led the first 14 minutes of the game, but were unable to answer a big second half by Chuckey-Doak.

Uriah Jarrett led Cloudland with 12 points.
