Monday Roundup: Cyclones fall on walk-off as Unaka sweeps Cloudland; Bulldogs Roll To Win

The Cyclones came up short in a heartbreaker on Monday.

Tennessee High recorded a walk-off hit to take the win in the bottom of the seventh.

JD Hooks went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Rhett Slagle had two RBI. Jack Blevins had two hits and an RBI.

Ryan Kasting, Marshal Holtsclaw, and Seth Holly had a hit and an RBI.

On the mound, Slagle allowed just four earned runs on five hits in four innings of work with eight strikeouts. Jackson Buckles struck out five batters while allowing just three earned runs on three hits in just over two innings of work.

The Rangers picked up a pair of wins on Monday evening.

In the first game, Laken Barnett went 2-for-2 with four RBI to lead the Rangers. Jake Carr had two hits and two RBI, while Brandon Buckles had two hits and an RBI.

Walker Gouge and Will Polechio had a hit apiece for Cloudland, and Brayden Whitaker had an RBI.

In the second game, Garren Gray had 2 RBI, while Victor Spitzhirn had three runs scored for Unaka. On the mound, Connor Vines struck out five batters.

Gouge struck out two batters for Cloudland.

Chuckey Doak 13, Happy Valley 1
The Warriors were unable to battle back from an early deficit on Monday.

Lane Parker went 2-for-2 for the Warriors, while Mason Belt was 1-for-2. On the mound, Greg Visser and Belt recorded two strikeouts apiece.

Hampton 11, Tri-Cities Christian 1
The Bulldogs rolled to a win on Monday evening.

Eli Henson went 2-for-4 with four RBI, while Brock Shelby was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a triple. Memphis Nave added two RBI. Jayden Kuhn had a hit and an RBI.

On the mound, Henson struck out seven batters and allowed just one unearned run on three hits in 5.2 innings of work.

Sullivan East 13, Hampton 2
The Lady Bulldogs fell in nonconference action on Monday.

Lillian Andrews, Mallory Lamb, Maleah Scalf, and Jocelyn Johnson each had a hit for the Lady Bullodgs, while Kiera McKinney and Johnson each scored a run.

South Greene 6, Unaka 2
The Lady Rangers were unable to answer a four-run seventh inning by the Lady Rebels.

Mikena Blackwell had a homerun and two RBI to lead Unaka, while Katlyn Dugger had a hit.

In the circle, Kimberly Proffit recorded six strikeouts and two unearned runs on one hit in four innings of work, while Kelsey Pasquale had four strikeouts while allowing just four unearned runs on two hits.

Chuckey Doak 16, Happy Valley 8
The Lady Warriors were unable to overcome late big innings Monday night.

After scoring three runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 6-6, HV was unable to answer a four-run and five-run inning by the Lady Black Knights.

Tierra Colins and Trinity Bowers had a hit and an RBI apiece, while Destanee Irick added an RBI. Alex Moore added a hit for the Lady Warriors.
